Lot 422. Fine Li Long Bei (Dragon Cover), Hainan, China, 18th/19th c. Silk embroidery on plain woven cotton in three separate well-matched panels. The dragon cover, with patterns of dragons, phoenixes and other mythical beasts, was considered a symbol of wealth and power, and used in ceremonial rituals and funerals by the Li people. Size: 6'2'' x 4' (188 x 122 cm) total. Ex. Chinalai collection. Start: $3000
