As i noticed when looking at a closely related piece (Turk Ministry of Culture Vol. 1, code 0056/ Provenance, Istanbul Turk Ve Esleri Museum, inv. # 250), the colors seem to be exactly what you would expect from a circa 1800 Yuntdag; the wool looks beautiful, and the green is what i would expect the color to be in that period? The back has the flatness and wear i would expect. i think it's beautiful "as is" and is a very good thing. The abrashes match up on the piece, but i would think that there must be some old restoration in the yellow - gold border, but i can't really point it out and think that if it was done; it was done quite awhile ago? That said all the design elements in the borders and field seem to be original. As for the size; i thought when i got it that if it was a yastic it would be even more valuable ;-)) ??? i like to call it a "Super Yastic"........... Approx. 3"10" x 3'1" (95 x 118 cm) i can have the edges and ends restored if desired? I have scanned the Istanbul t & e Museum piece for reference.......think this one is better and perhaps just a bit older.......?
