Important 18th c White field Konya, Ladik rug 180/100 cm. The upper part ( 15 cm ) and the lower part (5 cm) have been rewoven long ago. a few small repairs in the border, several holes.The symbols in the field are related to the Anatolian cult of the dead and reminiscent of Kirsehir Mezarlikli ( graveyard) rugs, however executed here more finely with additions of unknown symbols. i personally have never seen in all my documentation a Ladik rug with these symbols and it might be that this rug, estimated to be over 250 years old, remains witout an existing equavalent.Provenance: an old German private collection.
