Smyrna Rug from the 18th century. This rug has great colors, wool, and design, and extraordinary design details. The weave is similar to a standard Oushak weave but has slight warp depression and employs some offset knotting, and the density is about 50 kspi. The condition is fragmentary, and as the photos show, one end of the rug is essentially complete. However, an unknown portion of the other end is missing--at least 4 feet, and the rug may have been around 20 feet long originally. (Dimensions App. 4'6" x 11')
