Back
Tekke Turkmen Small Main Carpet or Large Mat with Torba-Guls. Exceptional velvet-like wool, large well-drawn guls, great handle. There is an abrash to the natural browns, lighter toward the center and darker at the bottom and top row. The handle is like velvet. One of the side borders is cut. The field, however is complete as are the other borders. The field grid is dark blue and the borders outlined with brown. That brown is preserved on the cut side so we know the entire field is there and that is was woven as a three column piece. Similarly, there are weft returns and selvedge on the other side so the border was quite slim. There is a label from an old Paris dealer sewn to the back. The piece is clean and feels great. Size is 45"x60"
(It is missing 6.5" on the side.)
