tibetan carpet WEEKEND
Dear friends of Tibetan carpet art,
In the context of the exhibition drumze of the carpet museum Schloß Voigtsberg in Oelsnitz, in the Saxon Vogtland, we are hosting a Tibetan Carpet Weekend from
Friday 14th – Sunday 16th October 2022.
It’s for all who are interested in delving a little deeper into this fascinating subject.
The aim is to get to know Tibetan carpet art somewhat better, by means of objects, lectures and wide-ranging discussions with the participants.
In addition to a curated guided tour through the exhibition, there will be a series of lectures, as well as a 'Show and Tell', during which carpets brought by participants will hopefully prompt discussions about the Tibetan carpet.
The exhibition highlights the centuries-old history of Tibetan carpets: a history that is divided into clear periods, through which it is possible to trace the development of the tradition. The carpets can be separated into monastic and secular objects. a further chronological division is represented by the pre-industrial and industrial epochs. So carpets range from a C14-inspected rug from the 16th century to the ‘designer’ carpets of the modern era Tibetan-exile production, with a strong focus on the typical representatives of the respective periods.
The exhibition comprises a room furnished in Tibetan style, a monastic seating arrangement, Tibetan everyday objects, photographic documentation, and a documentary. The weekend will be primarily hosted in English and a shuttle will be provided for guests travelling via Berlin.
For further information on accommodation and directions, please get in touch with Peer Martiny at drumze@t-online.de.
