Very rare Kirghiz fur rug or cover made from pieces of fur sewn together (sheep, yak, mountain goat). The red and blue parts are dip-dyed first. Late 19th century. All natural dyes. Size 48 x 80 inches. Very good condition. a few old repairs (sewing) at the back. These rare group of rugs are called Postak. It seems they were at one time on the market in Afghanistan. There are only a few of them and hard to find nowadays. Very archaic and possibly the oldest type of rug, pre-dating the piled rugs.
