16 Old Venice King and 22 black Fancy Venice trade glass beads necklace insered on strong steel strang (1850-1950)
Venice King were traded in the 19th century from Murano (Venice) to Ghana (Gold Coast).
Same beads are part of the famous sample card from the dealer Moses Levin (1865) with the words "exchange for Gold" section.
Old and original.
European Tradebeads origin were traded in the last centuries to Africa and used for exchange. They had value as money, but sometimes among African people they had even spiritual value.
