Southern Peru, Ca 200 to 400 ce. Large and fascinating! Woven strap or belt made of camelid fibers in a repeating "m" shaped chevron in colors of red, green, blue, gold and white. Measuring an amazing 19 feet, one inch long by 1-1/2" w! Belts like this were often found wrapping mummy bundles in the arid Peruvian desert. a few minor losses and stains, but generally quite excellent. provenance: EX-Vanbuskirk collection acquired at auction
