Moghol quilted and embroidered prayer mat with stamp 19c. Quilting pattern represents small shells on unbleached cotton canvas previously drawn with reed pen. The polychrome silk embroidery represents arches of a Mirhab intended for prayer. The decors of stitch embroidery looks inspired by Mughal India. very nice tones of lemon yellow, pale green and dark green. Pad calligraphed in the Mihrab. Cotton calico lining (Russian?).
