one flower, one bird. this kind of so-called totemic, zoormorphic, turtle..etc, motiv by some authors is surely well known, first through a small group of schahsavan sumac bags, it is regarded as rare and is a kind of rather sought after design.it seems to be even rarer on knotted rugs. this northwest persian small format rug, 120x90cm, in some way is not unreminiscent of prayer rugs.there is only one bird on the whole rug, but without head. note also the 2 small squares in the white panels in the lower part on both side of the bird. they appear again right and left of the main design, the green "totem". the colors are all natural and well saturated, like this very well made orange one. wool warps and cotton wefts. worn areas but no repairs. surely a discrete piece to many people, but now waiting for the early bird (with head) who will discover its secrets and this for little money!
