Back
moroccan berber middle atlas carpet although the diamond lattice design is often used in rugs from the Beni Mguild Berbers in the southern Middle Atlas mountains, it is unusual to find the complexity and fineness shown here. It is also unusual to have small Berber motifs, including birds and the traditional tents portrayed and there are several of these hidden in the design. The traditional Berber knot has been used in this old piece and it is completely intact. a piece with similar attributes is shown as Plate 15 in "Maroc - Tapis de Tribus" and there is good additional information on the Beni Mguild. Reference 2501. Size 280 x 173cms. 8ft.2in. x 5ft.8in. Euros 1,575.
