antique caucasian rug, probably shirvan. Local fresh find. Older variant of a well known design. The numerous endless knots are an interesting addition to the archaic main floral devices. "as found", very dirty with even low pile, wear as shown and significant brown oxidation. i see a small crude patch in upper edge. i believe all the colors are natural. Should wash up nicely. Nice squarish size. ca. 1875 or earlier. 4'5" x 4'11"
