Lift the leather covers to find out what is underneath! An old Anatolian heybe saddle bag from Dosemealti of exceptional craftmanship. Leather covers have protected the bag faces leaving the colours in pristine unfaded condition. i understand this type of heybe doubled as a saddle, and the wear to the embossed motifs (decorated the remnants of metal bound thread) and the concave shaping of the leather inner sides of the heybe bear this out. The heybe is in unusually good original condition and is the older two of the same size and type made by the same family. May be synthetic orange (although it has some abrash) but none of the colours have faded or darkened as the bag faces have been covered by leather flaps and it is impossible to tell for sure without testing. However this is a genuine antique ethnographic piece. Size 138cm x 46cm.
