Finely woven long, narrow zili embroidered kilim made by Horzumlu-Aydinli yoruk nomads from Hatay in east Anatolia.
Wintering in Hatay near the Syrian border, the Horzumlu-Aydinli nomads had their summer pastures in the Soganli Mountains in Kayseri province (thanks to Deniz c. for this information).
Finely spun wool on a red madder flatweave foundation., unusually fine zili work with a varied colour palette, well drawn design and great contrast. Size 330cm x 50cm
One of my recent finds during travels through Anatolia in April and September, more of which are arriving in Ireland next week, so please look out for forthcoming Rugrabbit listings.
