Back
Two small collectible, related but different Helvaci Manastir kilims, the first older with natural orange (or your money back!), the second with interesting asymmetrical colour arrangement in the field, natural and aniline dyes. Wool on cotton, flat weave and slit weave technique. Both in very good condition, 1st-2nd quarter 1900s and approximately 106cm x 60cm in size. The jury still seems to be out as to whether this group of small Manastir kilims were actually all intended to be used as yastik cushions or not (Hays,Stoebe,Mizrahi). If you know of some up to date research, please let me know.
