a rare antique Chinese silk woven textile hanging with the chinese zodiac animal motif. The piece dates to the late 19th century and is an exceptional beauty. The design consists of animals (dragon, monkey, cock, snake, etc) reflecting the Chinese zodiac years. It is made in a very unique weaving technique that incorporates double weave, hence creating the surface pattern. The yellow ground contrasts beautifully with the colourful animals.
