An exceptional and very rare antique Turkoman / Turkmen Yomut / Yomud silver with gilded applique on leather ring weight (for holding down the thread) and a matching spindle. Such effects were essential and valued tools of a master Turkoman weaver, who used them to weave those highly sought after antique rugs that we all cherish. This particular example dates to the mid 19th Century and is an exceptionally rich piece with high grade silver and gold and fantastic craftsmanship. The rarity of this ethnographic gem is rooted to the fact that not many have survived. Every serious rug collector should have one of these.
