moroccan hand made shoes The degree of sophistication of hand made shoes in Morocco is extensive and ranges from very basic ones made from esparta, or dried grass, to pairs such as these. They were hand made by a Jewish craftsman in Marrakech with layers of camel leather providing the sole and much finer camel leather used for the lining and upper part. The design is hand stitched and consists large of silk covered very fine metal thread. The maker's stamp is in each heel portion. Fine pieces like this would have been made for very wealthy people. In the text book "Splendeurs du Maroc" various hand made shoes are shown as plates 247 and 248. Reference 2586. Size 27cms. 11in. long. Euros 110. sold. thank you.
