an unusual appealing big tibetan sleeping and/or meditation rug with a totemic like so called shou design and abrashed ground in yellow and brown. what is now called shou design has been incorporated in chinese design repertoire at some point but is not of chinese han origin but belongs originally to the tribes in an area in early time surrounding what is now called tibet. for that reason i see no chineese influences in a piece like this. it is mot probably late 19th c but even the pink seems to be a natural colour. 170x 84cm wool foundation
