An antique Turkoman / Turkmen silk embroidered silk ikat trousers attributed to the Yomud / Yomut tribe. This beautiful ethnographic bridal textile art dates to the late 19th century and would have been worn by a woman. Perhaps because such things get worn with use, it is relatively rare to find a complete piece such as this one. The top half is made up of pure silk Ikat with striped design. While the bottom has fine chain-stitched silk embroidery with archaic motif typical of the fine Yomud textile tradition. a similar piece was published in Johannes Kalter's book Uzbekistan. Would look great mounted or can be worn. a beautiful piece for the collector, in a very good condition, offered at a fair price. Email your question. size 100cm x 70cm (39" x 35").
