One of my finds from April traveling in Turkey, a rare type of Anatolian kilim woven by the Karakecili tribe, probably living in western Cappadocia north of Aksaray, although the Kuthaya area of west Anatolia has also been suggested. Dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, finely woven wool, including ivory white, on a wool warp with good dyes and complete with corroded black, small losses and marks as visible in the photos. In completely original, unrestored condition and recently carefully hand washed. For display or wall hanging, the kilim would benefit from being backed on linen. Size 288cm x 68cm.
