An Exceptional Antique Turkoman / Turkmen silver Double Asyk pendant with gold painted and fired and carnelian inset. This outstanding example wa made by the Tekke / Teke tribe and dates mid to third quarter of 19th century. These heart shaped pendants (worn on a necklace ) are known as 'Asyk' and a genuine double heart / Double Asyk such as this is quite rare in the genre (a similar piece was published in Dieter and Rainhold Schletzer book "Old Silver Jewelry of the Turkoman" and Johannes Kalter book on Linden Museum Collection). The balance in its design, the work and the quality of the silver , gold and carnelian easily makes it as one of the most coveted Jewelry made by people of Central Asia . Unlike so many later reproductions or fakes examples one sees in the market, this is the real deal. a beautiful antique tribal piece with gorgeous patina and offered at a fair price.
