Ikebana basket, Japan, Bamboo, split arrows, 22" (56 cm) high, Taisho Period, Chikunsai iii, b.1940, was known for using split arrows in his baskets, as can be seen in the painted bamboo. He is the grandson of Tanabe Chikunsai i (1877-1937), a well-known bamboo artist of Western Japan. It is signed on the bottom and comes with a full-length bamboo insert for the ikebana arrangement.
