This jacket has a graphic geometric patchwork of indigo, stripes, and kasuri, or Japanese ikat. Straight sleeves enhances this geometry further. Yukinko kasuri, or "snowball" ikat, is found along the lower half in the back.
Rows of straight and dense sashiko stitching, about 75 stitches per square inch, is found along the upper half of the jacket to protect from wear. The surface of the jacket is a treat for this, very textured and pleasing to touch.
There is a small area of discoloration found inside the lower back of the jacket as seen in the photographs. However, it is in truly excellent condition and very wearable.
Dimensions: 40.5in (103cm) sleeve to sleeve, 22.5in (57cm) across chest, 36.5in (93cm) top of shoulder to bottom hem Mid 1900s
