Back
a beautiful Antique Uzbek Silk Suzani Embroidered ilgich hanging. It dates to the 19th century and while assessing its aesthetics one can assume it is the work of the Lakai Uzbek tribes of Central Asia, the floral design echoes motifs of rural shahrisabz. In my opinion it is certainly not Kungrat tribe as the flowers are way too refined for that. The work is exceptional with fine chain-stitched silk embroidery on red and green wool fabric (bannat fabric). The design consists of a dazzling floral outburst with tiny ewers that and a lovely repeating double flowers border. The gorgeous colours really bring out the design. It has lovely tassels and a really fine block print lining. In a very good condition. size: 54cm x 54cm (21"x21") and tassels extend an extra 7cm (2.5")
