a great example of Antique Turkoman / Turkmen Ersari tribe silk embroidered bag dating to late 19th century. Out of most central Asian silk bags, the Ersari types are some of the finest and this example has a very unique design and colour combination. It has fine silk chain-stitched embroidery over an apricot ground. The compartemented field consists of eagle four eagle motif each rendered in different colours that include blue, green, yellow, white and purple. This interpretation of eagle motif with stretched wings is often seen in certain high grade beshir chuvals of middle Amy darya region. The outline of the compartemented field is rendered with altering colours. a visually dazzling piece. The reverse side follows the same design. it has a polychrome tassel that would have been used to strap on a belt. The condition is good. Worthy of any good collection. size: 17cm x 11cm (6.5" x 4.25") and the strap stretched 50cm (21")
