Southeast Asia: Chin Shaman’s Cape~Fine and rare ceremonial men’s “bell” cape (khing ta zhi) from the Southern Chin ethnic group in Burma- this piece would have been worn during religious and planting festivals,; please see last enlargement for a couple of guys wearing them. This piece is constructed of handspun threads and natural dyes and is over 50 years old being sewn together from two panels and folded over. There is one hole and some unraveling along the selvedge noted in enlargements. The bells come from India, China and Burma. d: 58cm/22.8in and w: 43cm/16.9in- please note the complete size is double this if you take into account this piece is folded in two.
