Taoist shaman’s mask from the Yao (Mien) ethnic group from Vietnam. Circa 60 to 90 years of age. Jess Pourett suggests, in his excellent book on the Yao, that masks with horns represent the “Judge of Deeds” used during funeral rites. Good condition. h: 27cm/10.6in and w: 17cm/6.7in.
