SOLD
Beautifully woven east Anatolian prayer kilim one of the Drejan Tribe villages of the Malatya region. Excellent drawing and colours from natural dyes, although impossible to confirm the orange without testing but it looks good (see last photo) with white cotton and silver bound thread as found in dowry weavings in the Malatya area between about 1880 and 1910. In very good condition with original fringes and only small loss to length of a short section of top fringe (see detailed photos from link below). See Plate 82 Dirican Prayer kilim in 'Flatweaves of Turkey' by Bandsma and Brandt where a kilim of the same design type is described as from Dirican village south-east of Malatya. i understand this is a misunderstanding and that Dirican is a mis-transliteration of the Kurdish word for Drejan. Size 135cm x 75cm.
