a dynamic Antique Uzbek silk suzani / Susani dating to late 19th Century from rural areas of shahrisabz. It has fine chain stitched silk on a dark indigo silk woven ground. The design follows the classic shahrsisabz form with the field consisting of the medallion with boteh looking motifs on each side. The larg borders have archaic discs and interspersed with lovely botehs. The intricate detail inside each of the motifs are really interesting. The colours dazzling and it makes the piece look like a modern painting. It has a Russian floral cotton lining with Ikat edging. The condition is good with couple of old tiny repairs on the ground which is hardly noticeable or distracting. a really cool piece offered at a reasonable price.
