Here is a beautiful old Chodor Turkoman embroidered Talisman/Amulet which would have been worn to ward off evil/bring good luck. The talisman is embroidered in nine colors of silk thread: white, yellow, gold,orange,celedon green, red, burgundy, and purple. The amulet measures 4 1/2" wide and 7" tall. These are made of silk thread embroidered over a stiff fabric or felt base. Attached to the bottom of the talisman are silk braided tassels with beads. The colors are all natural dyed silk (with the possible exception of the purple which could be synthetic though it shows no signs of fading). The colors used date this talisman to the late 19th.
