Very fine antique Tekke Turkoman ala (red) chuval 113 x 66 cm (3ft 9" x 2ft 2") 2nd third 19th century. All natural dyestuffs, colours: red, pinkish red, dark blue, greenish blue, white, yellow. Condition: according to age, knotted stripes mostly full pile, minor wear to the kilim parts, few (small) holes and damages mainly to the right hand edge, right hand original selvedge remaining, left hand side slightly reduced and secured, minor staining. Technicals: asymmetrical partly offset knotting open to the left, warps: 2 strands of ivory handspun wool twined clockwise, wefts: 2 strands of fine handspun red wool twined clockwise and 2 strands of grey brown handspun wool in the knotted stripes
