Patola Sari Silk Double ikat.Probably Patan Gujarat.India.19th Century.this Patola sari has the type of geometric,non figurative pattern particularly favoured by the ismaili Muslim merchant community of the Vohras.And its called Vohra-Gaji-Bhat.(Vohra Type Design).Its complex field design of stylized leaves,stars and other motifs is combined with multi-layered and patterns.these include the triangular element called Tumpal.which is particularly associated with South-East-Asian Textiles and with Patola made for export to that area.Its Size is 118cm x 450cm.Condition Is good(DSC03354 New).
