Back
After 38 years restoring Navajo rugs and Oriental rugs, we are retiring and are selling the largest selection of wool yarn used for restoration of Navajo rugs and Oriental rugs in the us. About 5000 colors. Each box is 4' x 4' x 6 inches. There are 33 boxes and a couple of smaller partial boxes. Also there are some cones and skeins of warp thread. The approximate volume of the boxes, if they were stacked, would be a bit under 300 cubic feet because some of the wool hangs out from the boxes. i would guess that the total weight would be about 700 lbs total i would think. There is also some cones and skeins of warp thread, cotton warp and other wool yarns.
The boxes alone cost me $ 1000.00 in materials plus the labor to assemble and paint them. And that was back in 1985! The approximately 5000 colors are sorted and arranged by the colors of the spectrum and type making it easy to find the right color and thickness of yarn. As can be seen in the photos, the bottom box swings out and the top box drops down to facilitate reloading. Please see the other photos and contact me if you have any questions.
We can arrange for shipping but it is probably more graceful for the buyer to drive it with a U-Haul or Penske truck. Selling the entire inventory for $7500.00 or best offer. The large variety of colors, textures and plies allows the repair person to do higher quality work and to charge much more accordingly. Any serious rug repair person would benefit greatly by having such a selection and amount of wool yarn. And the cost can be made up very quickly, in just a few months, by charging much more for much higher quality repairs.
Thank you for your interest. Please contact me with any questions. We are in Tucson, Arizona and have been repairing rugs for 38 years. and are easy to find online.
