Back
Detail of a rare and colorful Pre-Columbian bag/belt. Chuquibamba, Peru, c. 1100 - 1400 ad. This textile is in very good condition and has good scale and proportion for such a piece. It features fish and bird motifs interspersed with eight pointed stars. The back side has simple brown and white stripes. Bag belts were worn around the waist and the opening of the bag was in the middle. (Sort of like a money belt.) This is a good thing. Size: 4.25 x 28 inches.
Also shown is an early headband from Sihuas culture approximately. 200 - 400 ad. Size: 3 x 28 inches.
Both reasonably priced and collectable.
