Back
Pile khorjin face, Shahsavan Confederacy. Northwest Persia, Circa 1880, 48 x 45 cm (19 x 17.5 in.)
Knot count: 13 h x 15 v = 195 kpsi.
Colours: red, peach, blue, yellow, blue-green, dark brown, ivory (7).
Condition: good pile overall with a couple of minor areas of slight wear, a small reweave in the upper right hand border (2 x 6 cm/1 x 2.5 in.), missing end guard stripes all around.
Notes: woven on a cotton foundation with a rather silky wool, resulting in a handle which we often associate with the long rugs ascribed to the Meshkin area.
