Very rare standing wood folk image of the Buddha statue from the Tai Lue ethnic group in the Golden Triangle region. This Buddha is classically robed in the Mandalay style with a distinctly more Asiatic face then the Mandalay types. The elongated ear lobes sticking out at 45 degree angle touching the shoulders is a definitive element of Tai Lue Buddhist iconography seen on no other images from this area. There is one minor chip on the end of the robe as well as a check in the wood at the base; this piece is circa 100 years old. h: 47cm/18.5in.
