Very fine quality Arab Baluch rug from Qainat region south of Mashad in Khorasan Province, north eastern Persia. Lustrous wool, a camel wool field, with complete kilim guards, fringes and original goat hair selvages. Asymmetric knots, open right, from the first quarter of the 1900s. In exceptional unworn condition with full pile and only light corrosion of black and the brown weft in the kilims guards. Recently acquired from an old German collection of Turkmen and Baluch weavings on the market for the first time. Size 268x120cm.
