Kuba / Chadjli, 3' 11" x 9' 3", Late 19th c. This fine example of Kuba area workmanship has glowing colors with one end showing a weaker madder dye which has gone to brown. Some of the tan border devices are just that - tan. One other border device has an odd purple-red which has faded but not vanished as you might expect with fuchsine. The wool is soft and lustrous and the pile mostly full except for a few small areas of the brown. One end is missing a guard stripe, the other a guard border. It has the natural brown wool warp which can appear in some of these later examples. The small punctures and little hole seem to occur mostly in this general are pictured. The rug has been washed. There is No smell, odor, rot, color bleeding, weakness or other troubles. Shipping is $100 to any of the lower 48 states. Checks preferred. Please feel free to ask questions.
