early caucasian lesghis star rug with incribed date of 1821. Probabaly shirvan. Older example with very wide range of vibrant natural colors. Delicate complex drawing with some charming elements i have not seen before. Unusual to find ewers depicted in a caucasian rug. Inscribed "1237" or 1821. as found, thin with numerous old small reweaves or repairs and overall slight edge loss. Appears reasonably clean. Rough but noble little weaving. 3' x 4'8".
