sold 19th century prayer rug from from Mucur in Kırşehir province, Central Anatolia.
An unusual mihrab with multiple arches, very good drawing and beautiful colours. Complete but worn with foundation showing, holes and slight loss to the end borders. In original condition other than old fabric added to secure damage to selvage edges. a striking prayer rug with great graphics and detail and a very good, varied palette of colours from natural dyes. Would make an eye catching wall hanging or a possible restoration project. Size 168cm x 100cm.
