Back
Rare survivor, a very large finely woven 19th century West Anatolian Elmali kilim chuval.
In good shape considering its age, a cicim embroidered kilim chuval from Elmali in the Korkuteli area of West Anatolia. In original unrepaired condition, a fine kilim flatweave with cicim embroidery and a beautiful integral striped kilim back (a good antique kilim in its own right). Because of its large size, this type of chuval is more properly called a hurç. Natural dyes with white cotton. Some wear, minor corrosion and holes to the back. Size 130cm (x two sides) x 100cm wide. One of my finds from June spent traveling in Turkey.
