Early to mid 19th century West Anatolian Karakecili kilim
One of my finds from June spent traveling in Turkey, an early Karakelcili kilim with beautiful colours from natural dyes with a more varied palette than seen in most later kilims of the type. Unusual asymmetric rendition of classic Karakecili guls with cicim embroidered s hook and other motifs. In original condition, structurally sound with a square in the lower right panel cut out, holes, loss to borders and some corroded weft as visible in the photos. The kilim would benefit from being mounted on linen. Size 238cm x 150cm.
