No.R12 * Chinese Antique "Peony Flower" Rug ,Origin: Baotou.Age: 19th Century. Size: 94x182cm(37"x72"). This is a classic Baotou sleeping carpet from Inner Mongolian. a single central medallion of stylized flower design with small flyfots is flanked on each side by lovely lotus flowers. Buddhists believe that the lotus is the holiest of all flowers. The corner designs are more examples of lotus leaves. The carepet has a classic flyfot border which symbolizes the sun. The blue colour indicates that this carpet was woven for a noble family. Cotton warp and weft, asymmetrical woolen knots in a very good condition. All vegetable dyed.
