1880's qashqai 6x9 Rug:
Also known as Shiraz rug, this Qashqai Rug is a definite treasure.
This wool rug hand made in Iran is 6x9, very thin, all over wear, all over pattern, in original state with no damages or repairs. a great collectible to have.
A confluence of styles and influences, Qashqai carpets incorporate a variety of tribal designs.
The nomadic tribal weavers inhabited parts of Central Asia and the Caucasus before arriving in southern Persia, moving across the region over time. As a result, their weavings reflect the bold geometry of Turkmen weaving, the tendency toward striking color palettes and saturated hues inherent to Caucasian weaving, and the rich ornamentation characteristic to Persian weavers. a range of motifs inspired by the landscapes they traversed are often incorporated into these exotic antiques.
To have it professionally cleaned before taking it, i can do that too for a small fee.
My story: i grew up in Los Angeles around antiques my whole life due to the culture and history of my family and their love for rugs and antiques. i have learned this trade naturally through many members of my family that have been in this arena, and under the wing of one of my uncles who has been in the business for 4 decades, i have learned a thing or two. He has driven throughout the entire country many times over, finding great antiques over the years and has sold to dealers and retailers daily. He is known to have an eye for spotting treasures and has taught me the rich value and history of rugs, down to identifying the texture, weave, tribe and region of each piece.
With this valuable education and mentoring, i have become a passionate hobbyist and i seek to find genuine, valuable rugs from around the country to buy and sell low, at wholesale prices. All the rugs i list do sell for a lot more in a rug store, but i have the pleasure to collect and sell these to private parties or to any dealers who would like them at bargain pricing. i welcome any questions or comments and wish you luck in your quest for finding your ideal rug. Thank you in advance for looking at my items and if you have a particular thing in mind that you don't see here, please contact me as i don't list everything.
