Antique Talish Style Long Rug,Probably se Caucasus , Last Quarter 19th Century , 7.3 x 3.9
a beautiful bottle green outer border in the star & bar design frames this Talish style long rug with an abrashed blue field. The ivory border of volute rosettes is generally in the Talish style. The wool is slightly coarser than the usual velvety Talish pile and the foundation is all wool unlike true talish rugs with their cotton wefts. This is a totally authentic and genuine village rug with excellent colours. The pile is little lowish at the bottom end,but the rug is generally in very good condition with a wide original selvage.
