Wool Chogha (Robe or Coat) SIZE: 48” long; 59” from cuff to cuff; 50” circumference at the hips (similar to a man’s large) AGE: c. 1890 from: Fabric from Paisley, Scotland and probably made in Rajasthan NOTE: This wool chogha is made from a shawl that was woven in Paisley, Scotland reminiscent of Kashmiri designs. The lining for the pockets (not shown) was constructed from the corners of the shawl. On the mother-of-pearl buttons is inscribed a monogram of unknown origin, which might represent a family from one of the Princely States.
