antique caucasian akstafa rug with a most unusual format. Two large conjoined birds form an elegant prayer arch. i do not recall seeing this before. As found, very very dirty with mostly good pile, some roughness and some original selvage. Heavy brown oxidation. Under the layer of dirt colors look good. Great small size. Fresh New England find with good age. Ca. 1880. 3'7" x 5'8"
