moroccan berber high atlas shawl which is an old piece and originates from Zagora in the eastern corner of the High Atlas close to the Algerian border. The shawl is used to cover the head and is then draped over the shoulders. a headband of an embroidered ribbon or a metal band decorated with semi-precious stones keeps the shawl in place. It dates from the first half of the 20th century and is still in good condition. It has a few small holes and two small missing sections at the bottom. It will make a fascinating wall hanging or throw and we can mount it on black cotton material if preferred. There are three examples each being worn by Berber women in the text books "Tazenacht", page 57, "Morokko", also page 57, and "Splendeurs du Maroc", page 94. Reference 2698. Size 122 x 180 cms., or 4ft. x 6ft. Euros 145. sold thank you.
